Lorraine Economy

In the last decade, the economy of the French region Lorraine has known a general increase.

However, before that, Lorraine has been strongly hit by the collapse of the industrial activity linked to mining. A change is on its way though, with a new kind of industry being more and more developed in the region: high tehcnologies. Moreover, Lorraine can also use at its advantage the fact that it has borders with germany and luxembourg.

Nevertheless some branches of the regions economy (such as industry, property building or tourism) have had problems with providing new jobs or even with keeping pre-existing employment.

But on the whole, the general economic trend of the Lorraine region is quite similar to the economic situation of France.

Lorraine has an unemployment rate of 7.7%.

This region also offer financial and physical support for people in need such as elderly people, disabled people, unemployed people...
