Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Wine

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is the 4th wine producing region in France. This area has been producing fine wines since 600 BC. The production is modest but the tastes are gorgeous, and priority is given to Rosé and Red wines.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur best wines

  • Côtes de Provence in Provence

Appellations such as Côtes de Provence, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence, Cassis, Bandol, Palette, Coteaux des Baux, Coteaux Varois. Wines in Provence are synonymous with diversity.

  • Côtes du Rhône in Vaucluse Côtes du Luberon, Côtes du Ventoux and Côtes du Rhône, as well as Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, and Vacqueyras.

From Chateauneuf-du-Pape to Cotes de Provence, from Cotes du Rhône to Bandol, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region will delight you with its wonderful wine.

The Rhône and Provence valleys are absolutely spectacular, and so is the local wine production. The traditional Provence fine wines are generally described as being full-bodied and expressive. Outstanding Chateaux will welcome you for a tasting, as the famous Chateau de Beaucastel and Chateau de la Nerthe.

Provence is famous for its cuisine, but you will understand that the ideal component of a nice meal is definitely a well-chosen Provence wine, produced with love and savoir-faire in this area of France. Three examples of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur spectacular wines below:

Côtes de Provence AOC French wines

  • Cotes de Provence Rosé wines are fresh and fruity products. These Rosé wines are internationally renowned.
  • Red Cotes de Provence are multi-coloured, full-bodied wines.
  • White ones are very rare, precious wines.

Cotes de Provence wines are mainly red and rosé. These wines are produced along the Meditteranean coast, these French vineyards thus benefiting from a large amount of sunshine hours. Cotes de Provence vineyards cover 18,000 hectares of varied land hence wine types are really varied.

Bandol fine wines

  • Reds account for 40% of the production and are oak-aged vintage wines, being Bandol’s most famous wines.
  • Rosés are fresh, young wines and account for 55% of Bandol’s production.
  • The - once again - rare whites are lively and vigorous, you must taste this if visiting the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France.

Bandol wines are produced under the "Vins de Bandol" appellation. These wines are produced in small quantities since “grow little but grow well” is the motto of these local French wine makers. It is subject to the strictest rules in France to get the appellation “Bandol AOC French wine” and thus is a prestigious produce.

This is an exceptional French red wine. Largely unknown some decades ago, this Provence pride has become an international best-seller wine. These wines are a legacy of the time when Popes inhabited the famous Avignon - known as the City of Popes – who have done a lot to promote these local vineyards. Chateauneuf-du-pape is a robust but extraordinarily fruity and full of flavour red wine produced in this nice Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
